The Missouri Tigers have opened the 2026 college football season with three victories, all by double-digits. One of those wins came on the road against a Power 4 team in an intense rivalry matchup. Despite this, the Tigers aren’t garnering much hype on the national scene, and Chase Daniel can’t stand it.
Daniel, a former Mizzou quarterback, spoke on the perceived slights against his Tigers during SEC Nation. He specifically pointed to quarterback Austin Simmons’ play as reason for praise.
“What in the world is up with the disrespect of the University of Missouri?” Daniel asked. “Offensively… Austin Simmons, to me, is playing at a next level… he’s throwing some footballs and putting these in tight windows that I’ve never really seen a Missouri quarterback do since Drew Lock.”
While Daniel wants more respect for his Tigers, he admitted he’s “scared” about their matchup with the Mississippi State Bulldogs because of “the ease” at which Kamario Taylor plays quarterback. Taylor has completed 68.3% of his passes for 832 yards, 11 touchdowns and just one interception this season, and will present a major challenge for Mizzou’s defense.
Missouri and Mississippi State kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET tonight in Starkville (SEC Network).
