Former Florida wide receiver and SEC Network analyst Chris Doering joined in on talking season with his ranking of the top 5 quarterbacks in the SEC on Tuesday.

Coming in at No. 5 for Doering is Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed, followed by Auburn‘s Byrum Brown at 4 and Texas‘s Arch Manning at No. 3. Ahead of Oklahoma‘s John Mateer at No. 2, Doering tabbed Ole Miss returner Trinidad Chambliss as the top passer in the SEC.

Interestingly, Doering mentioned that he believes Chambliss and Ole Miss have the most pressure of any team in the SEC outside of Lane Kiffin and LSU, noting the expectations that come after making the College Football Playoff as a first-year SEC starter last season. He also mentioned that those expectations are going to be tough to live up to, but he believes Chambliss is up for the challenge.

“It’s gonna be tough to live up to, but he too has a lot of pieces around him getting Kewan Lacy back is a big part of taking some of that pressure off of him,” Doering said. “I think you and I being in Oxford last week, sitting down with Trinidad, meeting his parents… he’s ready for the moment, and I really believe he’s a special person outside of just the quarterback, that’s going to be able to live up to the bar that was set incredibly high last year.”

Ole Miss kicks off its season on September 6 against Louisville.
