Clark Lea announces starting QB for Vanderbilt vs. NC State

It’s Jared Curtis time in Nashville.

Curtis will make his first start for the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday against NC State. Clark Lea announced the change at quarterback on Tuesday.

A true freshman, Curtis is the highest-rated recruit to ever sign with Vanderbilt football. Out of Nashville Christian, Curtis was rated 5-stars, the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee, No. 2 quarterback and No. 4 prospect overall in the Class of 2026 on the 247Sports Composite. He flipped to Vandy after being verbally pledged to Georgia.

In 2 games, Curtis is 21-of-31 passing for 270 yards and 1 touchdown. He came off the bench in both games, leading Vanderbilt to a 35-26 Week 2 victory over Delaware, logging 3 touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 passing) while throwing for 210 yards.

Lea named senior Blaze Berlowitz the starter for Vanderbilt out of fall camp. Berlowitz is 14-of-25 passing on the season, for 178 yards. He was 3-of-9 for 29 yards in the Delaware game.

Vanderbilt hosts NC State in Week 3. It’s the final nonconference contest for the 2-0 Commodores.
