Clark Lea says Diego Pavia ‘deserves all the attention and credit that he gets’ as a difference maker

Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea didnโt mince words when asked about his quarterback this week.
โDiego Pavia deserves all the attention and credit that he gets,โ Lea said. โI mean, he is a difference maker.โ
And truthfully, itโs hard to argue. Pavia has been the spark behind Vandyโs 5-0 start and rise into the AP Top 25. Heโs the guy giving the Commodores real juice heading into Saturdayโs trip to No. 10 Alabama, and heโs done it while navigating plenty of drama off the field, too.
โThere’s only a handful of guys who can take a game over and we’re fortunate to have one of those taking the snaps for us,โ Lea said. โHe’s also a chip-on-the-shoulder guy. He’s a guy who’s had to prove it his entire life. That’s the kind of program we are. We say we’re a team of misfits here, and he fits perfectly into that.”
Vanderbilt and Alabama are set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The game will air on ABC.
