Coming off a win at Texas A&M, Auburn is gaining steam as a team to watch among the contenders in the SEC. The Tigers added that win to their already impressive victory against Oregon and has led some, like Clay Travis of “Outkick the Coverage,” to suggest that those two wins are better than any other team’s wins.

“I donโ€™t know what Auburnโ€™s ceiling is, but Bo Nix and this Auburn team are going to get better week by week because he’s a true freshman quarterback,” Travis said. “I think he fits Gus Malzahn’s offense really, really well.”

Travis mentions recent great Auburn teams like 2010 and 2013 and said those teams improved each week led by Cam Newton and Nick Marshall at quarterback. He sees Nix following in those footsteps as Auburn elevates its performance level late in the season against the likes of Georgia and Alabama.

“It wasn’t like they started off at a high level,” he said. “… I’m not saying it’s the same for Auburn this year, but I love their defense. You cannot move the ball very well against that front seven. They’re not going to give up a lot of points no matter who they’re playing.”
