Clemson added a road-paver to its 2026 class on Thursday.

A week after taking his official visit to Clemson, Leesburg (Va.) Loudoun County offensive tackle Carter Scruggs announced his verbal commitment to the Tigers. The 6-foot-5 lineman is viewed as one of the best offensive line prospects in the 2026 class and chose Clemson over Georgia, Penn State, and Michigan.

Scruggs is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the 12th-ranked interior offensive line prospect in the class and the seventh-ranked recruit from the state of Virginia. In the overall player rankings, Scruggs sits at No. 195 in the nation. The 247 Composite lists Scruggs as a tackle but ranks him among the class’s interior offensive linemen. He brings some positional versatility to the Tigers, who will be able to move him around on the line to find the right fit.

He had previously scheduled official visits to Georgia, Penn State, and Michigan. According to a report from 247Sports’ Brian Dohn, Scruggs is expected to cancel those visits and shut his recruitment down.

Scruggs becomes the 18th known commit to join Clemson’s 2026 class. He’s the sixth offensive lineman to join the class. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
