Clemson offensive line ruthlessly mocked for hilarious blocking fail against LSU

It doesn’t take much to see that last night’s high-profile matchup between the Clemson Tigers and LSU Tigers was one-sided. The orange-clad ACC program suffered its worst loss ever under head coach Dabo Swinney, falling 51-10 in Baton Rouge.
If any one play embodied Clemson’s harrowing night in Louisiana, it’s the following third down play. Left tackle Brayden Jacobs appears to slide the wrong way on a blitz pickup call, which left LSU linebacker Whit Weeks completely unblocked. Jacobs failing to put hands on a single defender during the play made matters look even worse.
Social media, of course, had a field day with the clip. Twitter/X users called it “awful,” “bold blocking scheme” and compared it to blocking in the NCAAF video game.
Jacobs certainly wished he had this snap back. And, fortunately, it really does seem like a blown assignment. That’s (theoretically) easy to fix, even if he did like former Baltimore Ravens and current Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Daniel Faalale on that play.
Jacobs’ and Clemson’s first chance to get the sour taste of Saturday’s loss out of their mouth comes versus Georgia Southern in Week 2.
