The 2025 college football regular season is quickly approaching its midway point, and that means that every team in the country has put enough on tape for fans and analysts alike to form an opinion on just how good (or bad) they really are.

The SEC is arguably the deepest conference in the sport once again, and a number of teams down south have firmly established themselves as early contenders for a spot in the College Football Playoff come December.

SEC Network analysts Cole Cubelic and Roman Harper recently broke down which teams are in each of their respective SEC top-5s entering Week 6, and there were some surprising differences between the two colleagues lists.

Both had the Ole Miss Rebels at the top of their lists, but the similarities ended there, as Cubelic and Harper both had very different takes on who 2-5 are currently in their rankings.

Cubelic had Texas A&M at 2, Alabama at 3, Oklahoma at 4, and Missouri rounding things out at 5, while Harper had Alabama at 2, Georgia at 3, Missouri at 4, and Vanderbilt at 5 in his rankings.

If anything, the fact that there is so much variance between these two rankings highlights just how deep the SEC really is, and it also shows how uncertain the SEC Championship picture currently is, almost halfway through the season.

There’s still a lot of football left to be played, so it will be fascinating to see how things shake out as the weather starts to cool off outside, heading into October and beyond.
