Cole Cubelic, Tom Hart, and Jordan Rodgers are on the call for the Pop-Tarts Bowl between Miami and Iowa State. The trio are the SEC Network’s lead commentary team, but are behind the mic in Orlando on Saturday for what’s quickly become a fan favorite during bowl season.
Cubelic, who’s manning the sideline at Camping World Stadium, didn’t need much convincing to get into the spirit of the game. As you can see below, he put on a Pop-Tarts costume for a sideline report early in the game:
Since Pop-Tarts became the title sponsor of the bowl, replacing sister brand Cheez-It — which now lends its name to the Citrus Bowl in the same venue — the organizers have done things a little bit differently. An “edible mascot” was introduced in 2023 and was lowered into a giant toaster after the game, with the winning team given the opportunity to chow down on a giant Pop-Tart. The trophy itself is designed as a football but, as of this yearm is a working toaster.
Kudos for the sponsors for leaning into the Pop-Tarts theme as much as they can. If anything, it presents more opportunities for Cubelic to dress like a human-sized Pop-Tart.
