Colin Simmons suffered ankle sprain in loss to Florida, per report
Texas star pass rusher Colin Simmons is dealing with an ankle sprain and is questionable for the Ole Miss game this coming week, according to a report.
That’s per On3’s Pete Nakos, who notes that Simmons suffered the injury in UT’s loss to Florida on Saturday. Simmons had to be carted off the field with an apparent leg injury and the initial fear was a more significant injury.
Still, it’s possible Simmons will miss multiple critical games for Texas as the Longhorns look to build their College Football Playoff rรฉsumรฉ. Per Anwar Richardson of Orange Bloods, Simmons is expected to be out for “3-4 weeks” with this injury.
Texas is now 4-2 on the season and likely needs to run the table if it wants to be assured of a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Simmons would be a big part of those efforts if healthy. Through 7 weeks, he’s leading the nation in sacks with 10.5 and is on track to be one of the top defensive players selected in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Texas will face Ole Miss in Week 8.
