North Carolina State play-by-play radio broadcaster Gary Hahn was suspended indefinitely Friday after his comments during the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Maryland defeated NC State 16-12 Friday in the Mayo Bowl.

During the Mayo Bowl, however, Hahn made an on-air comment about “all the illegal aliens down in El Paso” while checking in on the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

“In the Sun Bowl and amongst all the illegal aliens down in El Paso, it’s UCLA 14 and Pittsburgh 6. That’s will 11:15 to go in the second quarter,” Hahn said.

NC State immediately put out a statement of suspension after Hahn’s comment.

“LEARFIELD has suspended Wolfpack Sports Network Play-by-Play announcer Gary Hahn indefinitely following comments made during today’s Duke Mayo Bowl radio broadcast,” Annabelle Myers, NC State’s Associate Athletics Director, said in a statement.
