A Texas Tech linebacker may be the first college football player to ever get arrested for this.

On Sunday morning, Red Raiders redshirt junior Brandon Bouyer-Randle was charged with a Texas state felony of evading in a watercraft, according to an arrest report shared by Rob Breaux of Talk 1340 in Lubbock. Bouyer-Randle was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Texas Tech suffered a 34-18 loss at TCU on Saturday evening, prior to the incident involving Bouyer-Randle occurred. It’s unclear what happened between the end of the game and him getting charged, and it’s unknown what led to his arrest.

Texas Tech Athletics released the following statement on Sunday morning, per Breaux:

“We are aware of an incident that occurred earlier this morning involving a member of our football program. At this time, we are continuing to gather facts regarding the matter and will handle any discipline consistent with the Texas Tech student-athlete code of conduct.”

Bouyer-Randle has 31 tackles and a sack in seven games for the Red Raiders this season, his first after spending the past three years at Michigan State. He had two tackles in Saturday’s loss at TCU.
