An Oregon football great is returning to his alma mater for Saturday’s showdown in Eugene. College GameDay announced on Thursday that Marcus Mariota will be the celebrity guest picker for the Week 13 show.

Mariota happens to be free this Saturday as the Washington Commanders are on a bye.

Mariota was an Oregon Duck from 2011-14. He redshirted his first year on campus and then made an instant impact, winning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2012.

The 2014 campaign was a season to remember for Mariota and the Ducks. Leading Oregon to the College Football Playoff National Championship, Mariota set single-season records with 4,454 passing yards and 42 passing touchdowns. He collected numerous conference and national individual honors, headlined by the Heisman Trophy.

After 4 years in Eugene, Mariota departed Oregon with program records for career total offensive yards (13,089), career passing yards (10,796) and career passing touchdowns (105). He was selected No. 2 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

Mariota continues to play professionally. After the Titans, he made stops with Las Vegas, Atlanta and Philadelphia before joining Washington in 2024.

Saturday, Mariota will be asked to pick the biggest college football games of Week 13, joining host Rece Davis and analysts Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit. The show is in Eugene for the Big Ten showdown between No. 7 Oregon and No. 15 USC.
