ESPN’s College GameDay is coming to Knoxville in Week 3.
ESPN announced that decision on Saturday evening following wins by Tennessee and Georgia earlier in the day. The Vols will be hosting Georgia in a matchup of two teams with legitimate College Football Playoff aspirations.
Here’s the official announcement:
This marks back-to-back SEC games for College GameDay. Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and the rest of the crew were in Norman on Saturday for Oklahoma’s Week 2 tilt against Michigan.
Georgia and Tennessee will bring undefeated records into their Week 3 matchup. However, this will be the first SEC game for either team in 2025.
These old SEC East foes have continued to play every year even as the league got rid of its divisional structure. Georgia has won 8 consecutive games in this series. Tennessee’s last win over the Bulldogs came way back in 2016 in Athens. Tennessee’s last win in Knoxville over UGA was in 2015.
The other possibility for College GameDay this week was Florida vs. LSU, but the Gators’ stunning loss to South Florida on Saturday likely dashed any hopes Baton Rouge had of hosting the show next weekend.
This will be the first time for Knoxville to host College GameDay since the 2022 season. That year, GameDay was on campus twice for Tennessee’s games against Florida and Alabama. The Vols won both contests.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
