College GameDay has announced its Week 4 on-site location. The weekly pregame kickoff show is headed to Knoxville to cover Texas at Tennessee — a top 15 matchup and Texas’ first ever trip to Neyland Stadium.
According to a Tennessee press release on Sunday, the first 2 hours of College GameDay will be aired from the lawn of Ayres Hall, located on the hill adjacent to Neyland Stadium. The final hour will be held inside Neyland Stadium ahead of the Noon kickoff.
Saturday will be the 13th time College GameDay sets up in Knoxville and the Vols’ 29th time appearing as part of the featured matchup.
The Longhorns are the No. 1 team in the country. That’s unlikely to change following Texas’ 30-6 win over UTSA and last week’s monster comeback victory over Ohio State.
Tennessee, on the other hand, is almost surely set to be a top 15 team for Week 4’s clash. The Vols are currently ranked No. 15 and improved to 3-0 on Saturday with a 42-9 win over Kennesaw State.
The Vols and Longhorns have squared off just 3 times before, and all 3 of those matchups were played at the Cotton Bowl. The last meeting between the pair was played in 1969, ending in a Texas victory. Texas holds a 2-1 record all time against the Vols, and Tennessee’s last win come by a score of 20-14 in 1951.
