Kirk Herbstreit may have let the cat out of the bag on Friday, but College GameDay made it official Saturday morning: The crew will be heading to Norman, Oklahoma for Week 2’s battle between the Oklahoma Sooners and Michigan Wolverines!
The crew is currently on-location for a goliath matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State in Columbus. Here’s a look at the video GameDay released officially announcing their Week 2 location:
We’re going to learn a lot about both of these teams next week, to state the obvious. The Sooners and Wolverines both face severely outmatched competition in Week 1, which means Week 2 will be the first test of the season for both Sherrone Moore and Brent Venables’ clubs.
It’s a battle between 2 quarterbacks with a lot of expectations, too. Oklahoma features veteran Washington State transfer John Mateer, who joins Wazzu OC Ben Arbuckle in Norman looking to rejuvenate the Sooners offense. It can’t possibly be any worse than last year, right? Michigan, on the other hand, will start true freshman phenom Bryce Underwood – the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2025. Both Mateer and Underwood are expected to have strong defensive units.
All that isn’t until next week, though – we’ll get our first looks at Mateer and Underwood in just a few hours. Enjoy Week 1, everyone!
