The first full Saturday of the college football season is essentially an unofficial holiday. So it’s only fitting to welcome it back in style. That’s exactly what happened on LSU‘s campus Saturday morning leading up to ESPN’s College GameDay.

To celebrate, there was a flyover from the Louisiana Air National Guard’s Bayou Militia, which drew a raucous roar from the crowd.

This will be head coach Lane Kiffin‘s debut, as LSU hosts Clemson at Tiger Stadium. Heading into the matchup, LSU has decided to not roster a pair of ex-pros who recently joined the team. Daeโ€™Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris are the former Ole Miss players who received the necessary injunction to play for the Tigers.

The 51-year-old Kiffin went 55-19 at Ole Miss and now will aim to restore LSU back to glory. LSU is Kiffin’s third SEC team that he’s been the head coach, with Tennessee his initial 1, which lasted a single season (2009).

Clemson at LSU is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff and will be televised on ABC. This is the second straight season the teams will meet in the season opener. Visiting LSU edged Clemson 17-10 last season. LSU leads the all-time series 4-1 vs. Clemson.
