College World Series merchandise can move quickly, up until the time that a team is eliminated.
When Texas became the first team eliminated on Sunday following a 10-2 loss to Texas A&M, the merchandise store in Omaha quickly marked the Longhorns’ T-shirts 50 percent off.
The Aggies got big performances on the mound from starter Micah Dallas, and then Trevor Werner hit a tiebreaking single in a four-run second inning. That added up to the Aggies ending a nine-game CWS losing streak Sunday with a 10-2 victory over rival Texas, which was the Aggies’ fourth straight win in the series, and ended the Longhornsโ season.

โThere is a little extra oomph behind everything, especially when itโs Texas, because you just look at the fan bases, thereโs a lot of like genuine hate between each other,โ Dallas said, per the Associated Press. โWe kind of feed off of it. We respect them. Theyโre a great ballclub. But thereโs a little more, I donโt know, competition.โ
A key development in the game came when Aggies reliever Jacob Palisch loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth inning and Ivan Melendez coming to bat. Palisch struck out the national home run leader and .393 hitter, who has the nickname the “Hispanic Titanic” on a called third strike.
