Conner Weigman threw for 337 yards and accounted for 2 touchdowns during 3 quarters of action during Saturday’s blowout win over UL Monroe.
In attendance was former Aggie QB and Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, who was introduced to the crowd around the time Weigman exited in the 3rd quarter.
Manziel is a Texas A&M great, obviously. He’s perhaps the best QB in Aggies history and someone that Weigman can look up to as he continues his so-far-impressive sophomore season in College Station.
Weigman told reporters Monday that Manziel came up to him on the sideline and told him to just keep doing what he is doing. His response?
Conner Weigman on Johnny Manziel: “He came up to me on the sideline and told me to keep doing what I’m doing. I told him I’m just trying to be like him out there.”

It’s not time for comparisons, but Weigman is having a strong start to the year thus far. He’s thrown for 909 yards, 8 touchdowns and a pair of interceptions, completing just over 70% of his attempts with an average of 8.7 yards per pass attempt.
Weigman is currently 3rd in the SEC in passing yards per game, 4th in total passing yards and 3rd in passer rating through Week 3.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke with media Monday as well. Here’s what he had to say about Weigman heading into Week 4 against Auburn.
Jimbo Fisher: “Conner (Weigman) looks like he belongs playing quarterback. He has great skills, but he’s comfortable.”
“The game makes sense to him. It’s natural to him.”

Fisher on Weigman: “When you get to know him, he’s very intelligent. He’s very charismatic. He’s not quiet, but he’s very confident in himself.”
“Baseball players and quarterbacks have always related… They can speed those hands up and slow them down.”
