TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Junior wide receiver Amari Cooper set the last big University of Alabama receiving record that he didn’t already solely have with his first reception on Saturday evening.
With his 5-yard catch on a slant pass in the first quarter against Auburn he broke the tie with DJ Hall for most career receptions at 194.
On Alabama’s second possession Cooper scored a on 17-yard touchdown reception, giving him 12 for the season — another Alabama record. He held the previous record of 11 in 2012.
Cooper has already set Alabama career records for yards and touchdowns, and season records in all three categories. He tied Hall last week with his third reception against Western Carolina, when he sustained a bruised knee.
Coming in Cooper had 1,349 receiving yards this season, which was one of the 10 best seasons in SEC history, and is in the top three all-time.
