Details continue to be reported in the aftermath of the Aaron Hernandez suicide saga.

According to Boston-based reporter Michele McPhee, the “CO” — correctional officer — assigned to Hernandez’s cell block has been “detached with pay.” She also tweeted that the officer didn’t conduct the 2 a.m. cell check, but she deleted that one. Hernandez was found at approximately 3:05 a.m.

A few chilling details were reported yesterday afternoon. Hernandez had a Bible verse written in blood-red ink across his forehead, and it looked like he had smoked synthetic marijuana prior to his death.

โ€œMr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit,โ€ the statement read Wednesday. โ€œMr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.โ€

The timing of Hernandezโ€™s death came as somewhat of a surprise, as he had just been acquitted of a double homicide days before his death. He was currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
