Dabo Swinney clowned by fans, media after Clemson picks up 3rd loss of the season

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers picked up their third loss of the season on Saturday night vs. Miami.

The Hurricanes started a true freshman at quarterback and had just seven points on the board until midway through the fourth quarter. But that didn’t matter in the end, as Miami was able to rally in the fourth quarter and ultimately win in double-overtime.

Clemson was forced to kick a field goal in the first overtime. In the second, after Miami found the end zone, the Tigers got all the way to the 1-yard line before Miami was able to pull off a goal-line stand to end the game.

The loss means Clemson’s streak of consecutive 10-win seasons is now in jeopardy. The Tigers will have to run the table — including a bowl game victory — in order to extend that streak to 13 campaigns. Clemson’s last single-digit win season was all the way back in 2010 — Swinney’s second season in charge.

It’s a particularly painful loss given Swinney’s comments this week about “lightening the bandwagon” with regards to expectations at Clemson.
