Dabo Swinney responds to reports of Browns being interested in him

The Cleveland Browns fired coach Hue Jackson this week, meaning it’s time for rumors to start swirling about who will eventually replace him with the full-time job.
One rumored replacement comes from the college ranks, and it’s Clemson coach Dabo Swinney.
However, Swinney shot down those rumors this week, saying he’ll be staying right where he is for the time being (via 247Sports):
“Oh man, no. I’m happy right where I’m at,” Swinney told local media after practice on Wednesday. “Y’all have been around here forever, and it’s November. It’s almost November. It’s November tomorrow. About every November there’s always some type of either I’m getting a job or somebody on my staff’s getting a job or whatever. And so that just kind of comes with the territory. Y’all know me. I’ve always said the same thing every year, any time it comes up. I don’t think you can ever say never. I mean are you never going to go work for USA Today? Are you never going to work for Sports Illustrated? You can’t say never.”
Swinney joked that he couldn’t handle the Cleveland cold, but added that he recently visited the city and enjoyed it:
“I think it’s cold in Cleveland too isn’t it? Like really cool. I hate the cold,” he said. “Ironically I did go to Cleveland in May. It’s actually a pretty place. I had never been there. The facility is in a neighborhood. I had never been. It was actually cool. I went up to a Cavs game. We went up to the Cavs-Raptors. I’ve got some friends up there on that staff. We went up to the facility. It’s actually a really cool place. It was a neat city right there on Lake Eerie and all of that. It was neat to be able to see that. I’m sure they’ll do a great job in getting the right guy in there.”
Clemson has legitimate national title hopes this year, so it definitely makes sense for Swinney to stay there. The future, though, is always open.
