Dabo Swinney says Clemson will stick with DJ Uiagalelei at QB: ‘Sometimes Steph Curry goes 2-for-25’

Dabo Swinney changed quarterbacks during Clemson’s 27-21 win over Syracuse on Saturday, but the Tigers will stick with their starter, DJ Uiagalelei, moving forward, the coach told ESPN after the game.
Cade Klubnik replaced Uiagalelei and went 2-for-4 passing, and added 6 carries for 15 yards as Clemson rallied from trailing 21-7 to outscore the Orange 17-0 in the second half. Uiagalelei was 13-for-21 passing for 138 yards and 2 interceptions. He also lost a fumble.
“Sometimes Steph Curry goes 2-for-25. Your best play sometimes can have a bad day. He just got out of rhythm, made some bad plays, and we just needed a change,” Swinney said. “We showed we’ve got that guy that can come in. DJ’s our quarterback, there ain’t no question about that, that’s our guy, that’s our leader, you can write that right now, DJ’s our guy. Now he’s got to play better and he will. But how about Cade Klubnik coming in there and leading these guys?”
Clemson, which is undefeated, is off next week and returns to action at Notre Dame on Nov. 5.
