Dabo Swinney shares final injury update on key starter before LSU game
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney gave an update on starting guard Walker Parks on Saturday morning, hours before the Tigers host LSU in a top-25 matchup in primetime.
Parks has been banged up throughout fall camp and has been considered questionable for this game. Swinney confirmed on Saturday morning that Parks is healthy enough to dress out against LSU, but it’s unclear how much he’ll be able to contribute. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that update on Saturday morning.
Whether or not Parks is able to go could have a big impact on this game. Parks is an experienced player, as he logged over 700 snaps last season according to Pro Football Focus.
Clemson’s offensive line is a big reason why the Tigers are ranked so highly in this year’s preseason polls. Clemson returns 4 offensive linemen who cleared that 700-snap threshold last season — a group that’s led by offensive tackles Blake Miller and Tristan Leigh.
If Parks is unable to play or is limited, Trent Howard could be in line to get the start at right guard. Howard featured in 8 games last year and played 171 snaps, per PFF.
Clemson is a 4-point favorite over LSU according to the latest college football betting lines at sportsbooks like BetMGM.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
