Dae’Quan Wright names SEC, ACC schools that showed interest in addition to LSU

At this point in his life, Dae’Quan Wright hoped that his name would be in the spotlight for his play on the field.
Instead, his efforts to return to college football after spending time with the Cleveland Browns have made him one of the more controversial figures in recent memory. After Wright agreed to join LSU and cleared waivers in the NFL, he was then deemed ineligible by the SEC.
But in a recent interview with The Advocate in New Orleans, Wright revealed that the Bayou Bengals weren’t the only team to purse his services upon entering the transfer portal.
According to reporting from Koki Riley, the former Ole Miss tight end explained that those same Rebels, South Carolina and his first school of Virginia Tech all expressed interest in bringing him into the fold.
Wright began his career with the Hokies, having spent the 2022 and 2023 campaigns in Blacksburg and racking up 574 receiving yards.
But Wright’s potential truly shone through in Oxford, as after not scoring a touchdown at his previous stop, he tallied 9 across two seasons while accounting for 66 catches and 1,029 receiving yards as well.
It remains to be seen if the claims regarding Ole Miss, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are true, but the story revolving Wright still appears to be far from over regardless.
