Tennessee adds to offseason transfer haul with commitment from Kansas lineman Da’Jon Terry
While many have been focusing on all the offseason losses on Rocky Top in recent months, Josh Heupel and his Tennessee coaching staff have been very active working the transfer portal to their advantage this offseason.
Those efforts continue to pay off for the Vols as Tennessee recently landed another player from the transfer portal, this time it’s Kansas defensive lineman Da’Jon Terry that has announced his commitment to Heupel’s program.
Terry announced his commitment to Tennessee on Sunday evening.
Following the addition of Terry, Tennessee has now added seven players to the team this season via the transfer portal. That list includes two signal-callers — former Virginia Tech QB Hendon Hooker (he committed to play for Jeremy Pruitt) and former Michigan QB Joe Milton, former Mississippi State receiver JaVonta Payton, former Southern Cal defensive lineman Caleb Tremblay and kicker Chase McGrath, former Texas linebacker Juwan Mitchell.
Last season, Terry appeared in eight games for Kansas, registering 14 tackles and two sacks for the Jayhawks. He was projected to start for the Kansas defense in 2021.
Instead, he will add depth to Tennessee’s defensive line and will play for Rodney Garner in 2021. Terry was a redshirt freshman last season at Kansas, which means he will have several seasons of eligibility remaining at Tennessee and will be eligible immediately for the coming season.
Here is a look at Terry’s bio listed on the Kansas team site:
