Damien Harris expresses concern over ‘confidence’ issues for Ryan Coleman-Williams

The Alabama Crimson Tide are looking to prove a lot of doubters wrong in Kalen DeBoer‘s third season at the helm down in Tuscaloosa, and star wideout Ryan Coleman-Williams is expected to play a big role in what is now his junior year with the Tide.
Coleman-Williams broke onto the scene as a 17-year-old true freshman with his electric playmaking ability, but he’s appeared to take a step or two back since then, with drops becoming a recurring issue.
Those drop issues resurfaced in Alabama’s season opener against East Carolina, prompting CBS analyst and former star running back for the Tide, Damien Harris, to express concerns about what he views as a confidence issue for Coleman-Williams.
“I have a high level of concern for his confidence,” Harris said. “Not his ability to catch the football, not his ability to make game-changing plays with the football in his hands, but just his confidence… You have to wonder what his confidence level is going to be like moving forward.”
Coleman-Williams’ drop issues started in 2025, when he ranked second in the nation in drop rate, and it looks like that has carried into the start of 2026.
There are very few wideouts who possess the natural talent that Coleman-Williams has, but if he can’t overcome the confidence issues that Harris describes here, then the Crimson Tide offense might be in some trouble as the season progresses.
