Dan Orlovsky eviscerates Steve Sarkisian, says Arch Manning should transfer for 2027 season
Dan Orlovsky has it all planned out for Arch Manning in 2027.
The ESPN analyst doesn’t believe the Texas quarterback should go pro. But he also doesn’t believe Manning should stay in Austin.
During an appearance on First Take on Friday morning, Orlovsky went nuclear on Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, whose team has gone from No. 1 in the country to No. 19 and faces the prospect of a third straight loss when No. 7 Ole Miss comes to Austin on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
Orlovsky believes that Sarkisian isn’t the college coach who’s going to get the most out of Manning, so he believes the young quarterback with the famous last name should look elsewhere for the 2027 season — don’t go to the NFL quite yet but don’t go back to Texas to play another season for Sarkisian.

“First of all, I love Sark, massive fan. You know what you got into bed with. He’s the head coach at Texas. You recruited Arch Manning. You’re surprised by the attention? Come on,” Orlovsky said. “What are we talking about? You led the program into the SEC. This is part of the territory.
“That being said, from a strictly football perspective, I hate Texas’s offense. I can’t stand watching it. They don’t allow Arch to play quarterback. They ask him to play thrower. Throw ball here, throw ball there, that’s it. There’s very little tools given to the quarterback. They run the same plays all the time. … It’s an offense right now that’s absolutely regressed the player. I think whatever happens this weekend, cool, I think this relationship is certainly done. I do not believe Arch should go to the NFL. I believe Arch should leave Texas and go to a place that can adamantly develop him as a quarterback, that gives you the ability to play quarterback.”

While Orlovsky questions Manning’s plans for 2027, there is still a 2026 season to play, and Texas has a huge challenge on its hands Saturday night to try to snap it’s losing streak. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about who has the edge in the Week 8 primetime showdown in Austin between Texas and Ole Miss:
