Danny Kanell insists Georgia punched its ticket to CFP with win over Alabama

Danny Kanell is ready to pen Georgia into the College Football Playoff after the Bulldogs’ win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

He makes a good point, too. Kannell argues that the Bulldogs have passed their biggest test of the 2026 regular season and called Georgia’s remaining schedule “low-key easy.”

Now, there’s nothing easy about a road trip to Ole Miss in Week 10, followed by a matchup against Mizzou in Week 11. But even if Georgia were to lose both those games — games in which they’ll surely be favored the week prior — a 10-2 record would be enough to advance the Bulldogs into the College Football Playoff with a win over Alabama in their back pocket.

And that’s assuming Georgia doesn’t steamroll the Rebels and Tigers, too. And at this point, that appears to be the most likely outcome.

The Bulldogs have earned every bit of the No. 1 ranking they are about to receive when the Coaches and AP Polls come out later on Sunday afternoon. Gunner Stockton affirmed that he is a top 5 quarterback in the SEC with another great road performance against a top 10 opponent. The Bulldogs defense kept Keelon Russell and a high-flying Tide offense at bay after the Tide scored 45+ in every game leading up to Week 6’s bout.

Then there’s Kirby Smart, who continues to show he’s one of the best coaches in the sport. Georgia’s going to be tough to beat this year, folks.
