Danny Kanell questions whether weather delay in Alabama-FSU game was legitimate

A handful of college football games were heavily impacted by adverse weather conditions this past weekend, and that included Alabama‘s showdown with Florida State in Tuscaloosa.
The date between the Crimson Tide and Seminoles was first delayed prior to kickoff, and then late in the second quarter as more lightning struck in the area.
Many in attendance complained about the lack of bad weather directly around the stadium, and with Alabama struggling to slow down Mike Norvell’s side early on, the second delay led some to believe that there may have been more to it than meets the eye.
Some, in this instance, being CBS Sports’ Danny Kanell, a former Florida State quarterback.
The analyst often likes to insert himself in a variety of conversations surrounding the sport, and he tried to put on his weather-man hat to criticize Alabama’s lengthy pause.
Sources tell me the weather was actually pretty nice during the “weather delay” in Tuscaloosa,” Kanell wrote on social media. “Surely they didn’t try to bail out Bama who was on the ropes vs the Noles??? That would never happen right?
Regardless of whether Kanell was serious or not, it sparked plenty of backlash online, prompting even professionals in the weather industry to re-emphasize the rules surrounding college football games being suspended due to lightning.
