Danny Kanell is out with his list of who he thinks are the top 10 quarterbacks in the country headed into Week 5’s games.
Two of those quarterbacks will be facing off on Saturday. Mississippi State‘s Kamario Taylor, second in Kanell’s rankings, will take on Alabama‘s Keelon Russell, who is ranked No. 10. The Bulldogs are looking for their first win over a Top 10 team since 2014, Dak Prescott’s redshirt junior season. The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, will look to remain perfect ahead of a huge primetime matchup against Georgia in Week 6.
Speaking of Georgia, Gunner Stockton is Kanell’s No. 4 quarterback right now. Stockton has thrown for 10 touchdowns versus just one interception while completing just under 75 percent of his passes. The Bulldogs currently lead the nation in scoring (54.8 ppg).
Topping Kanell’s list, though, is Darian Mensah. Over four games, the Miami QB has averaged 302.75 passing yards and a staggering completion rate of 88.7 percent. He’s thrown for 14 touchdowns and has yet to record an interception.
USC’s Jayden Maiava โ the nation’s top passer with 1,499 yards โ is at No. 3 on Kanell’s list, while Ole Miss‘s Trinidad Chambliss is at No. 5. The list also includes a Group of Six QB at No. 6: Oregon State’s Braden Atkinson, an FCS transfer whose 1,421 yards rank third in FBS.
