Danny Kanell reveals new top 12 after thrilling Week 4, including 6 SEC teams

Week 4 of the 2026 college football slate brought us six ranked-on-ranked matchups. Most of them lived up to their billing, leaving our stomachs full and our bodies needing time to digest everything we witnessed.
While you and I may still be working our way out of our college football comas, Danny Kanell’s metabolism for ball has him itching for Week 5. Early Sunday morning, he released his updated top 12 teams.
The five SEC teams in Kanell’s Week 3 rankings — the Texas Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Georgia Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels — all remained on his list. They were joined by the apparently unstoppable Florida Gators, giving the SEC half of Kanell’s best 12 teams.
Next weekend, we have just one contest between Kanell’s ranked SEC squads: Mississippi State-Alabama. Fans will get to see an incredible battle between quarterbacks Kamario Taylor and Keelon Russell, two second-year passers who combined for 725 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns in Week 4 victories over the Missouri Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks, respectively.
The Bulldogs, fresh off snapping a 14-game losing streak against ranked opponents, will welcome the Crimson Tide to Starkville at 12:00 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (ABC).
