CBS Sports Network analyst and former Florida State quarterback Danny Kanell has also checked in on X with his Top 12 college football teams after Week 3, claiming it is “the most reliable ranking out there”.
That is certainly up for debate, seeing as how Kanell has consensus No. 1 Ohio State ranked fourth in his top 12. Kanell lists the Miami Hurricanes as his No. 1, with SEC powers LSU and Georgia at Nos. 2 and 3.
Kanell has his alma mater, FSU, at No. 7. And the inclusion of the Vanderbilt Commodores at No. 8 sure to raise some eyebrows. Kanell is SEC heavy below Vandy, too, putting the Oklahoma Sooners at No. 9, the Texas A&M Aggies and No. 10 and the Ole Miss Rebels at No. 11.
Kanell replied to himself on X that his Top 12 is “strictly off who has the best resume” in his opinion, that “it’s a highly volatile list”, and that teams “have to have a P4 win to qualify”. Which is another way of saying that Kanell weighs recent results more than the totality of performance.
