Danny Kanell shared his updated top 12 rankings on Sunday morning following a Week 7 that had multiple surprises within the AP top 10, with Oregon losing at home and Oklahoma falling to Texas in the Red River Rivalry.
The CBS Sports analyst must have been looking hard at that Oregon game, too, because he elevated Indiana into his No. 1 spot after the Hoosiers prevailed in Eugene. Kanell has Indiana above No. 2 Ohio State, which took care of its business on Saturday with a solid road win over a ranked Illinois team.
Kanell had Miami at No. 3 after the Hurricanes enjoyed a bye in Week 7. Texas A&M was Kanell’s top-ranked SEC team, with the Aggies coming in at No. 4 after taking care of Florida at home on Saturday night. Still unbeaten Texas Tech rounded out Kanell’s top 5.
Alabama went to Mizzou and took down the previously unbeaten Tigers, and Kanell rewarded Alabama by putting the Crimson Tide at No. 6. The SEC parade continued for Kanell, with Ole Miss and Georgia being placed at No. 7 and 8, respectively. The Rebels struggled but got past Washington State on Saturday to stay unbeaten, and Georgia went to the Plains and took out Auburn on Saturday night.
Here is Kanell’s full top 12 rankings going into Week 8:
