Most people who make rankings in college football have Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State in some combination among the top three teams in the country, and almost shoo-ins for the College Football Playoff.

On Sunday morning, analyst Danny Kanell took to Twitter to rank his top 8 teams. As you can see below, he has 3 SEC teams in the rankings, including Alabama at No. 1 and Florida at No. 6, which were the same positions he had the Crimson Tide and Gators last week. Texas A&M also entered the rankings in the eighth spot, which Cincinnati held last week.

Kanell later commented that in a normal year, he doesn’t see BYU or Cincinnati making the CFP, but in 2020, anything could happen. He still maintains it as a long shot. The interesting movement will be next week when analysts like Kanell rank the loser of the Clemson-Notre Dame. Will that game eliminate the loser for CFP contention?

Barring an upset, the SEC Championship could be the next big game to offer a shakeup in the rankings, although Kanell doesn’t consider Georgia in the mix as he does Florida, and the game this week in Jacksonsville could also offer insight into the SEC balance of power.

Here are his rankings:
