Five ranked SEC schools had “tests” in Week 2, according to Danny Kanell. Three of those teams passed with flying colors. A fourth had a solid showing, while the fifth essentially failed.

Kanell revealed his grades on Twitter/X on Sunday night. He gave the Alabama Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers an A for their wins over the Kentucky Wildcats and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, respectively. The Texas Longhorns earned an A-minus for their incredible comeback over Ohio State.

Kanell gave Texas’ in-state rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies, a B for their showing vs. Arizona State. Lastly, the Longhorns’ Red River rivals — the Oklahoma Sooners — were given a D+ after falling to the Michigan Wolverines as road favorites.

It’s hard to find qualms with any of Kanell’s grades. Alabama and Tennessee both secured blowout road wins on the strength of their defenses. Texas, after trailing by 20 points, knocked off the No. 1 team in the country. Texas A&M was locked in a battle with Arizona State until pulling away in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Oklahoma — offensively, in particular — disappointed the entire nation by not beating Michigan after the Wolverines’ controversial Week 1 victory.

LSU and Ole Miss will surely receive grades in Week 3 after tussling in Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford. Kickoff between the Tigers and Rebels this Saturday night is at 7:30 p.m. E.T. (ABC).
