David Pollack believes South Carolina is primed to shock college football

David Pollack is a former All-American linebacker at Georgia with a soft spot for the SEC, because that’s the conference where he created so many memories.
There haven’t been that many memories created by SEC rival South Carolina lately. The Gamecocks went 4-8 last season with a 1-7 SEC mark, and Shane Beamer is a very pedestrian 33-30 overall and 16-24 in the SEC since taking over in Columbia in 2021.
But Beamer has managed to stick around this long, and Pollack said Friday on his podcast, See Ball Get Ball, that the much-maligned head coach could be rewarded for his resilence this fall. In fact, Pollack believes that South Carolina is going to shock the SEC and the entire college football world.
“Why should you be excited if you’re a South Carolina fan? Because you got game changers. Dylan Stewart can take over a game. LaNorris Sellers can take over a game. Nyck Harbor has game-changing speed,” Pollack said. “You made the adjustments this offseason. LaNorris Sellers improves with a new OC. The O-line was a huge weakness. South Carolina addressed it and aggressively — end of the portal, 8 transfers on the offensive line.”
The Gamecocks haven’t been relevant in SEC football circles for a very long time, but Pollack thinks that has the potential to change this fall.
“You’ve got dudes. You’ve got ability, you’ve got game changers, you gotta watch the heck out, man,” Pollack said. “This is going to be one of those teams that surprises people. They’re going to be ranked at some point, they’re going to be competitive in big games. They get a potential late-season surge, man, Beamer makes some Beamer Ball magic.”
Pollack wasn’t quite done with his shocking rant about a team he believes will shock everyone.
“Nine wins? Can they get there? Can they get to the Playoff conversation again? They were two years ago. Because of those game-changing guys who are still on the roster,” he said.
