David Pollack says Florida will be ‘dangerous’ in Year 1 under Jon Sumrall

Georgia legend and college football analyst David Pollack is high on Florida as it enters the Jon Sumrall era.
Pollack broke down the reasons why he believes the Gators will be a force to be reckoned with as early as the 2026 campaign in a recent episode of his See Ball Get Ball podcast.
“Florida is going to get somebody or some bodies, I can promise you that this season. And you’re going to have plenty to cheer about, Florida fans,” Pollack said before gushing about Sumrall.
Pollack pointed out that Sumrall has been a consistent winner in each of his 4 prior seasons as a head coach at both Troy and Tulane. He also highlighted the offseason acquisition of Buster Faulkner, who previously coached at Georgia before having a successful stint at Georgia Tech’s offensive coordinator.
“He’s won everywhere he’s been,” Pollack said of Sumrall. “Buster Faulkner, who coached at Georgia when they were winning championships, who knows how to design offenses to be a pain in Georgia’s butt.”

Lastly, Pollack gave shoutouts to some of Florida’s top returning players including Jadan Baugh, Vernell Brown, Myles Graham and Dallas Wilson. Here’s a clip showing his comments:
Pollack also touched on Florida’s quarterback competition, which includes Georgia Tech transfer Aaron Philo and returning backup Tramell Jones Jr. Philo is considered the favorite to win the job out of fall camp given his ties to Faulkner, but neither option is particularly experienced at the collegiate level.
Florida will face FAU on Sept. 5.
