David Pollack knows how to play football in the SEC at the highest level.
He’s a college football analyst these days, but once upon a time Pollack was a 2-time All-American linebacker at Georgia who starred in Athens from 2001-04 and won about every award there was to win during his final season. Pollack knows greatness, and on Tuesday, as SEC Media Days unfold in Tampa and Ole Miss gets ready to take its turn at the microphone on Wednesday, Pollack had a bold declaration about one of the Rebels’ star players.
Pollack said on his podcast See Ball Get Ball that Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is flat out the best quarterback in the country entering the 2026 season. Chambliss led the Rebels all the way to the College Football Playoff semifinals last season, and Pollack believes that Chambliss can take it to another level this fall as he returns to Oxford.
Here is Pollack’s positive rant on behalf of Chambliss:
I don’t know if everybody is going to agree with this. Numero uno, man, it’s Trinidad Chambliss. He’s the guy outside of (Fernando) Mendoza you didn’t want to see (last season). I get the point guard (factor), I get the arm. I get the experience. I get the legs. But also get the ability to extend plays and make that extra it factor. That thing that he can do that other people can’t do. He’s an adult. He’s a pro. He’s been there, done that. He’s been at a lower level, now at a higher level, like he’s excited to be there. He’s mature, like everything about him is good.
After transferring from Division II Ferris State, where he played from 2021-24, all Chambliss did last year in his first go-around in the SEC was throw 22 touchdown passes against just 3 interceptions. He fell just short of 4,000 yards passing, settling for 3,937. And he rushed for 527 yards and 8 more touchdowns, showing he can beat defenses with his arm and his legs.
On Wednesday, as Ole Miss takes its turn at Media Days, Chambliss will get the stage as one of the Rebels’ player representatives. He’ll have a chance to talk with reporters, and soon enough Chambliss will have a chance to prove Pollack right with his performance on the field in 2026.
