The No. 15 Tennessee Volunteers are gearing up for their first real test of the 2025 season against the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs, and they will reportedly be doing so once again without 5-star true freshman offensive tackle David Sanders Jr.

Sanders, who was the highest-rated recruit in the Vols’ 2025 recruiting cycle, has been held out the past 2 weeks with a shoulder injury. According to On3’s Chris Low and Pete Nakos, he’s set to miss a third straight game:

Sanders was a top-10 player in the 2025 cycle and chose the Vols over several other top-flight programs after a lengthy recruiting process.

Early reports from Vols’ spring and fall camp pointed towards the talented offensive tackle being an immediate impact player up front for Tennessee on offense, but this lingering shoulder issue has thrown a bit of a wrench into those plans so far.

Now, Tennessee will reportedly have to face down a very stout Georgia front 7 without one of their best pass protectors blocking for their new star quarterback, Joey Aguilar.
