Deebo Samuel has potentially played his final game in San Francisco.

According to a report Sunday morning from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are expected to explore trading Samuel this offseason. While Rapoport noted that it isn’t a “certainty” Samuel and the Niners part ways, both sides are “at peace” with moving on if the right offer materializes.

The former South Carolina star was drafted with the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and has spent the first 6 years of his professional career in the Bay Area.

Samuel was named a first-team All-Pro after a 1,405-yard receiving season in 2021. Though that’s the only time in his career he has gone over the century mark in a season, he’s been an integral part of the offense in San Francisco.

The 2024 season saw Samuel draw his fewest targets since his rookie year and set a new career-low for receptions (excluding the 2020 season where he was limited to just 7 games by injury.) He had just 670 receiving yards, the second-fewest in a season in his career.

Rumors swirled about Samuel’s future last offseason when San Francisco selected former Florida wideout Ricky Pearsall in the first round and extended Brandon Aiyuk, but Samuel remained with the squad and said in the summer, “We’re here, and we’re here to get better.”

Samuel is entering the final year of a 3-year, $71.55 million extension he signed in July 2022. He is owed $17.55 million.
