Tennessee fans may still have some nightmares over Joe Adams’ punt return for Arkansas in 2011. But for good measure, the Razorbacks social media team decided to reach into the archives and remind Vol Nation once more.

The Razorbacks shared on social media Adams’ dynamic 60-yard punt return touchdown as Arkansas routed Tennessee that season, 49-7. It was a night of several big-time players for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas won its sixth straight game that night while it also kept alive its hopes for a second-straight BCS bowl game. It also earned its seventh straight win against an SEC East opponent.

Adams’ punt return for a touchdown came in the first quarter, and Jarius Wright moved into the top spot on the school’s career receptions list with 154. Dennis Johnson added a 71-yard touchdown run, and had 170 total yards, according to the Associated Press.

Looking back on that game makes you realize how both programs have changed since then. While Arkansas added to its growing momentum, the Volunteers (4-6, 0-6) continued their sluggish season. They dropped to 0-6 in the SEC for the first time and need to win their final two games to become bowl eligible.

“They put it to us,” Tennessee coach Derek Dooley said. “Not much you can say after a game like that. Very disappointing in how it ended, but we missed a lot of opportunities.”
