Vanderbilt is facing a dynamic challenge in the ever-changing Kentucky offense, which has played two quarterbacks this season, but has dealt with struggles of late. The Wildcats are looking for an identity on offense, although they have the potential to have a punishing running game with multiple backs and a strong offensive line.

Coach Derek Mason has offered a scouting report on the Kentucky offense, and what the Commodores are facing.

“Terry Wilson, Joey Gatewood are dynamic quarterbacks,” Mason said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “They’re both efficient in the pass game, I think Eddie Gran has done a really good job of playing to their strengths. They’ve got wideouts that are speedy, physical they take pride in blocking. But this is a group between the tight ends like the running backs, the receivers they’re gonna challenge you. So, those guys first of all, every time, whether they’re throwing or running.

“They can give you problems on a bunch of different fronts, but the biggest thing that we’re gonna have to contend with is not just the running back you know run game but it can be run game as well so keeping the dudes contained down and trying to make these guys play from the pocket, you know, is a challenge.”
