Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans have agreed to a contract extension, as reported by multiple outlets.

As of Wednesday morning, the deal looked like it wouldn’t happen; however, things changed late in the process and by the 4 p.m. ET deadline for franchise players.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the latest on the financial terms of Henry’s deal.

“Titans and running back Derrick Henry are signing a four-year, $50 million contract that includes $25.5 million guaranteed, source tells ESPN,” Schefter tweeted.

That’s a big price to pay for Henry, the NFL’s leading rusher in 2019, but it’s not break-the-bank high. It’s roughly $12.5 million per year, and the Titans are likely looking at it like a 2-year deal, as evidenced by the $25.5 million guaranteed. Remember, had the Titans and Henry not made a deal before the 4 p.m. deadline, the running back was set to make $10.7 million on a 1-year deal.

Henry had a monster 2019 season, and now, he’s certainly being rewarded for it. The Titans signed both Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill to long-term deals.
