The NFL season hasn’t even started yet but Desmond Howard already has a surprising pick for Rookie of the Year. On the day of the first round of the NFL Draft, the ESPN analyst is predicting Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion to capture the prize.

The 6-foot, 196-pound Concepcion is expected to be a first-round pick on Thursday night. The explosive Concepcion was a consensus All-American last season as he hauled in 61 receptions for 919 yards and 9 touchdowns, while also having 2 punt return scores.

Howard is extremely intrigued by Concepcion’s potential despite him being under-the-radar in his opinion.

“A lot of people aren’t talking about him. I’m a huge fan,” Howard said. “I think he’s a guy that can come in and make a difference instantaneously…He’s going to be hell on wheels in the slot but as a return man too.”

Concepcion spent his first two seasons at NC State before transferring to Texas A&M for his last collegiate year. Concepcion amassed 16 receiving touchdowns as a member of the Wolfpack.
