One of the best attributes of Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is his relentless confidence, a trait that Alabama coaching legend Nick Saban highlighted Saturday on ESPNโ€™s College GameDay.

Saban, now an analyst on the show after a Hall of Fame coaching career at Alabama and LSU, shared with fellow panelist Pat McAfee that Pavia told Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson โ€œWeโ€™ll see you againโ€ after Simpsonโ€™s Crimson Tide downed Paviaโ€™s Commodores 30-14.

“Your man Diego has all the confidence in the world,” Saban said to McAfee. “I talked to Ty Simpson. Ty Simpson said after Alabama beat Vanderbilt, shaking hands with Diego, he says, ‘We’ll see you again.'”

Pavia was limited to 198 passing yards against Alabama on 21-of-35 pass attempts with 1 touchdown and 1 interception in a loss that snapped Vanderbiltโ€™s season-opening 5-game winning streak. The Commodores loss to Alabama on Oct. 4 also avenged the Tideโ€™s 40-35 upset loss to Vanderbilt in 2024.

Pavia has thrown for 2,063 yards and 18 touchdowns against 5 interceptions this season heading into Saturdayโ€™s Vanderbilt game against Auburn (4 p.m. ET, SEC Network). The senior, who is completing 69.2 percent of his pass attempts this season, also has 99 carries for 501 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2025.
