Diego Pavia practices victory formation in warmups before Alabama game

Diego Pavia is a legendary trash talker, and he seems quite ready to back it up. At least, he’d better hope so.
Ahead of Vanderbilt’s crucial road matchup against Alabama, the Commodores quarterback was seen practicing victory formation on the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He lined up under center, took a knee, then threw the ball in the air in faux celebration.
This clip couldn’t possibly backfire:
In fairness, Pavia has earned the right to talk — and he’s been doing an awful lot of it this past offseason, which has bled into the regular season. This week alone, Pavia mentioned that as long as Vanderbilt plays within the white lines, it shouldn’t even be close.
And now this.
Vanderbilt is a perfect 5-0 on the season, but they haven’t quite played anyone with Alabama’s skill and size. The Commodores scored early wins over South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Utah State heading into Week 6.
And Pavia, love him or hate him, has performed like one of the best quarterbacks in football so far this season. His 88.4 QBR ranks 2nd in FBS, and he’s thrown for 1211 yards with 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He’s done plenty of damage with his legs, too; Pavia has rushed for 294 yards and 3 touchdowns through 5 games – 2nd in rushing yards behind only Arkansas’ Taylen Green.
