The transfer portal saga of former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway continues, as Lagway re-asserted his commitment to play for the Baylor Bears despite reportedly planning to take more visits.
Lagway told On3Sports on Friday night that he is indeed committed to Baylor, even as ESPN reported earlier in the day that the former Florida QB plans to take more visits.
“Everything has been hectic,” Lagway told On3Sports. “I don’t know where people are getting stuff at in the beginning, but yes, I am committed to Baylor.”
As Lagway spoke to On3, Thamel reported that Lagway is on the way to Oxford.
Lagway, who hails from Willis, Texas, passed for 4,179 yards and 28 touchdowns with 23 interceptions in a pair of star-crossed seasons at Florida. He also turned in 237 rushing yards and 1 touchdown in those two campaigns.
Lagway also visited rival Florida State early in his transfer portal process before settling on Baylor, as the Waco campus is about 150 miles from his hometown.
Ole Miss entered the Lagway process late after the waiver request for Trinidad Chambliss to play in 2026 was denied by the NCAA.
Lagway is the son of former Baylor running back Derek Lagway, and visited Baylor earlier this week – attending a men’s basketball game and drawing cheers of “We want DJ! We want DJ!” from the crowd inside Foster Pavilion. Baylor aims to rebound from a 5-7 season under coach Dave Aranda and is looking to replace senior QB Sawyer Robertson.
