Dylan Stewart has had, well, an eventful last few weeks.
The last time we saw the Gamecocks edge rusher before South Carolina‘s Week 6 game against Florida, he was arguing with coaches when asked to leave the field in the latter moments of a blowout loss to Alabama. That, along with the fact that he punched a Crimson Tide player and talked back to Shane Beamer after a roughing-the-passer penalty in the first half, resulted in a suspension against Kentucky.
To his credit, Stewart was contrite. He apologized to Beamer and the rest of his team for his actions. Beamer, on his end, allowed Stewart back for Saturday’s game against the Gators.
And Stewart made an impact in the first quarter. He recorded his first sack of the season, taking down Aaron Philo in the backfield on a 3rd-and-15 from the Gators’ 25 with four minutes left in the frame.

Stewart totaled 4.5 sacks in 2025, his first season with the Gamecocks. He also led the team with 12.0 tackles for a loss.
Heading into Saturday, Stewart’s 2026 season had experienced its share of bumps. But his sack of Philo shows why he’s projected as a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
